Whether you’d prefer to be Jason Bourne, Frank Horrigan, James Bond, Ethan Hunt or heck, even Austin Powers, we all love the intrigue and mystery of the world of secret agents and spies.
The Apple Watch is probably about as close to spy gear as any of us will ever get. Add in Apple‘s intelligent personal assistant, Siri, and we’ll all soon be able to talk to our wrists to make a call — not to mention a number of other things you can ask her to do.
We are living the future, people. The future is now.
Below, we’ve compiled a fun list of commands that Siri complies with in iOS 8, but that will all somehow become extra sneaky and cool when we can whisper them into our wrists.
Simply hold your Apple Watch up to your mouth, say, “Hey, Siri,” and say the following:
1. Set up a cool spy name.
Before we get started, you can ask Siri to call you anything you’d like. We think something with a little gravitas is best.
2. Text Ethan “the eagle has landed.”
You can tell Siri to send a text to any named contact. Just ask Siri to text the required message to whomever you need to get ahold of.
3. Create a reminder for me to buy some rubles to bribe my Russian source.
Siri can create entries in your Reminders app. They might not always be word-perfect, but still…
4. Find out your next appointment
Like a virtual assistant of the future, Siri can tell you when your next appointment is.
5. Call “my secret source.”
If you haven’t already, you can teach Siri about the relationships you have with your contacts. Once you’ve set them up, you can simply ask Siri to call “my husband,” “my boss,” “my secret source…”
6. Schedule meetings with world leaders.
You can use Siri to add new calendar entries too. Just tell Siri the time and date of the meeting and it will be penciled in.
7. Make a note I’m running low on vermouth.
Siri can make notes for you. Just like Miss Moneypenny, but with a little less attitude.
8. What time is it in Hong Kong?
Siri knows the world clock. Just pick a city and ask the question.
9. When will the sun set in London today?
Whether you want to know about the timing of sunset for romance or an important mission, Siri can help. Also, weather.
10. Set a timer for three minutes.
Finally, useful for — er, you know — when you’re on a time limit to diffuse stuff. Or maybe just boiling an egg. Just ask Siri to set a timer for however long you need.
