Australian Broadcast Corporation’s Managing Director Mark Scott has told a Senate Estimates hearing on Tuesday he isn’t bothered about Taylor Swift.

In the hearing, where a committee grills public servants on matters of interest, Liberal-National Party Senator Matthew Canavan decided to lighten the mood by asking about Scott’s view on the “Taylor Swift controversy.”

The Taylor Swift controversy is the fact the song ‘Shake It Off’ had been banned from the Triple J’s Hottest 100, a nationwide song competition, due to what the company considered a “commercial” interference with voting. It followed a massive social media campaign to have the pop song included in the chart.

Without missing a beat, Scott fired off his straight-faced response: “Haters gonna hate… hate, hate, hate, hate…”

Although staff redundancies and budget cuts where the main topics on the agenda, Scott getting all TayTay won the hearing.
