Four-year-old Siahj Chase is one intelligent cookie. Siahj, who goes by Cici, demonstrated to her mother how she shrugged off insults from a boy in her class in a YouTube video that has already been watched more than 1.3 million times:
“What did you say?” Cici’s mom, Sonya, asks after Cici tells her that a boy in her class said she looked ugly.
“I said, ‘I didn’t come here to make fashion statements. I came here to learn, not look pretty’,” Cici confidently replies.
Apparently the boy didn’t learn from Cici’s first retort, as he then said that she looked bad. Cici’s response:
“Did you look in a mirror lately? Bye bye, see you later, you’re making me mad.”
The video became an instant viral success after Sonya posted it to herFacebook page.
According to Sonya, Cici was essentially just being herself in the video:
“Cici is a gem,” Sonya told The Huffington Post, “she’s sharp …. very active, talkative.”
The duo, who live in the Bahamas, have been elated by the positivity the video has inspired.
“I read lots of the comments that people wrote” she added, “and I just want to say thanks to everyone that said nice and encouraging things to and about her. I read some of them to Cici and she just smiles and giggles.”
Props to you, Cici!
