Matthew-AppersonThe Florida man charged with shooting at George Zimmerman will attempt to clear his name using the same ‘stand your ground’ defense the man who killed Trayvon Martin considered deploying.Matthew Apperson, 36, was charged earlier this month with aggravated assault and battery for firing a gun into Zimmerman’s car during a traffic run-in and causing minor injuries.A police report about the May 11 incident said Apperson had a fixation on the former Neighborhood Watch member and had recently been admitted to a mental institution.

Apperson was in court on Friday for a hearing about whether he must wear a GPS device while he is out on bail so Zimmerman will know when he’s close by, according to the Orlando Sentinel.
