And you thought Michael Keaton not winning the Oscar was the biggest surprise … the guy who won for Best Adapted Screenplay is not gay!
Graham Moore did an interview after the awards in which he said, “I’m not gay, but I’ve never talked publicly about depression before or any of that and that was so much of what the movie was about …”
Fact is … he never said in his acceptance speech he was gay, but everyone assumed it because the main character in the movie was gay and the torment he had to endure resulted in his suicide.
Moore said at the Oscars he had some connection to Alan Turing because both of them had issues fitting in growing up. He told BuzzFeed, “It was one of the things that drew me to Alan Turing so much, I think we all feel like weirdos for different reasons.”
Moore spoke to reporters backstage and did not broach the topic of his sexuality … even though a reporter tried to ask him about it … without actually asking him.
