Black girls rock!
Last night, some of the present day game changers of television and film were in attendance at the 8th annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood luncheon at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel. Of course it wouldn’t be a “blue carpet” unless some of our faves came out to slay the day! Check out some photos of entertainment’s most valuable ladies arriving to the scene below!
You go, Kelly Ro! Singer Kelly Rowland channeled her inner Olivia Pope in this all white and beige get-up. The singer was spotted at the luncheon rocking her post-baby curves in a lace ensemble, nude pumps and green clutch.
Leave it to Tika Sumpter to turn a little black dress into a thing of glam! The actress, who is said to be playing first lady herself in the upcoming President Obama biopic, sported this Stella McCartney midi dress with lace detail at the hem and matching lace pumps. But can we talk about the French braids she chose to crown her gorgeous face with? Love!
Jurnee Smollett looked Easter Sunday chic in a pleated dress and pink details. She finished the look off with multi-colored satin pumps, a sleek ponytail and a red lip. Looks like spring fashion is easing its way onto the carpets. Yes!
Long legs for days! Beauty Chanel Iman coordinated with the “blue” carpet as she made her way to the event in a light blue and nude Jonathan Simkhai Pre-Fall 2015 racer dress. She paired the look with a pair of fun Brian Atwood ‘Olive’ sandals and a simple clutch. Chic!
Stunning ‘Mad Men’ actress Teyonah Parris looked part of the money team in this rich, all green ensemble by Kimberly Goldson. Actress Regina King opted for a multi-colored blouse and House of CB bandage skirt and metallic pumps, while our fave Tracey Ellis Ross rocked an all white Reed Krakoff dress with matching pumps. She added a pop of color to her look by rocking a bright pink lip. That hair though- yesss!
Bitchie couple Tia Mowry-Hardrict and husband Cory Hardrict continue to win us over with their love (and fashion sense!) The stylish actress opted for this vintage jumpsuit with tuxedo accents, which she styled with Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudist’ sandals and a Nancy Gonzalez clutch.
Divine directors Mara Brock-Akil, Gina Prince-Bythewood & Ava Daverny looked fabulous! If you need a little lesson on the brains behind your favorite on-screen movies and shows: Mara is the writer behind Being Mary Jane, Girlfriends, and The Game, Gina is the force behind ‘Love and Basketball’ and ‘Beyond the Lights’ while Ava is the lady behind ‘Selma!’
