LaCie, the premium arm of Seagate, announced Tuesday that it will have a MacBook-friendly Porsche Design Mobile Drive with a USB-C connector available next quarter.
The drive will be available in three sizes: 500GB, 1TB and 2TB. It is made of aluminum and has a sleek Porsche Design aesthetic. The drive runs at USB 3.0 speeds.
Although the device is USB-C, it will include an adaptor to work with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 Type-A connectors. In other words, you can use this hard drive with more than just the new MacBook.
No word yet on pricing, but we expect it to be about the same as LaCie’s current Porsche Design Mobile Drive devices. Right now, a 1TB USB 3.0 Porsche Design Mobile Drive starts at $99.
