Fox Reports: The mother of a dying boy is pleading with the Limestone County school system to let her dying son die if certain circumstances happen at school, but school officials say that’s something they just can’t do.
It’s a decision no parent wants to imagine having to make: letting their child die. And it’s a decision no school system in the Tennessee Valley has ever had to make: allowing that to happen at school.
Rene Hoover wants her son to be back with his teachers and his friends, but she said she can’t let him if the school district won’t follow her wishes.
“This is about doing the right thing for him and letting him enjoy what time he has left,” she said.
Hoover’s 14-year-old son, Alex, has a terminal heart condition, and he’s autistic. Alex attended East Limestone High School.
“Alex was born with critical aortic and mitral valve stenosis. He was in heart failure when he was born,” she explained.
