Skydiving instructor appears to save man having seizure mid-jump

The thought of jumping out of an airplane is scary enough, but being unconscious and suffering a seizure mid-jump is unthinkable.

A terrifying video uploaded to YouTube by user Nomadic Adrenaline on Sunday appears to show a man named Christopher suffering a seizure while skydiving. Fortunately, the man’s jumpmaster was able to pull his parachute in time.

The video, which was originally posted to Reddit by user brobray1, quickly reached the site’s front page; however, the account was deleted shortly after. Since then, an AMA (Ask Me Anything) has been requested for the jumpmaster who apparently saved Christopher’s life.

According to the video’s YouTube description, the jump, which started at 12,000 feet, took place on Nov. 14, 2014. While attempting a left-hand turn at approximately 9,000 feet, Christopher suffered a seizure where he spent the next 30 seconds in an unconscious free fall. At 4,000 feet above ground, the jumpmaster pulled his ripcord, and at 3,000 feet, Christopher regained consciousness.

One Redditor recognized the jumping site as WA Skydiving Academy in Australia. This information appears to match up with the logo on one jumper’s suit, seen at the beginning of the video. The academy did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
