You may wanna free up some room in your fan cave, because a few massive pieces of Yankee history just went on sale.

You can now potentially own the iconic blue “YANKEE STADIUM” lettering that hung outside the iconic Bronx stadium. The letters will be auctioned off at Sotheby’s on April 1st in an event hosted by legendary Pinstriper and current owner of the lettering, Reggie Jackson.

While the old Yankee Stadium was built in 1923, the lettering going up for auction didn’t adorn the stadium facade until 1976. During its tenure on the face of Yankee stadium, the lettering saw 15 East Division titles, 34 AL titles and 25 Yankee championship. Yankee legends like Babe Ruth and Lou Gherig’s Murderer’s Row squads, Joe DiMaggio and Yogi Bera as well as contemporary greats like Thurman Munson, Don Mattingly and the “Core 4” team of Derek Jeter, Jorge Posada, Andy Pettite and Mariano Rivera all passed beneath its shadow. Also, A-Rod but like, let’s not talk about that.

Jackson told reporters at spring training that there were certain parts of the old Yankee Stadium he always had his eye on, like his old locker and seats from center field, but was always the most interested in the facade lettering. When he was given a chance to purchase them back in 2008, he jumped at the opportunity. Jackson recently decided that he wanted a new generation of fans to experience this piece of Yankee iconography, hence his decision to offer the letters up to auction.
